NAME: Melissa Furukawa

FROM: Peel, Ontario

PROGRAM:  Sustainable Building & Design

Hi! My name is Melissa Furukawa. I started my journey into sustainable buildings by taking the Endeavour Centre’s Sustainable New Construction course. Through this course I obtained a lot of hands on experience and background knowledge in how buildings work and how they are constructed. Through the course I was introduced to the Master of Building Science course at Ryerson University, in which I later enrolled and graduated from, and have been expanding my knowledge in sustainable buildings ever since.

I am currently a low energy building consultant with Peel Passive House Consulting Ltd. I am both a Certified Passive House Designer and Certifier. At Peel Passive House, I support the company’s Passive House building and component certification, Passive House consultancy, thermal modelling, and research activities. I mainly work with architects, designers, homeowners and developers to help them design and build low energy buildings.
